Solid Waste Management Vision 2047
Dr Akhtar Hameed Khan Memorial Trust has envisioned a 25-year progressive plan in the area of solid waste management to turn Pakistan into a responsible country having solutions in the area of solid waste management on the centenary celebrations of the country in 2047. The plan is based on creating a national hub in collaboration with partners including different friends (institutions) and replicate best global practices in area of solid waste management in Islamabad. This will be a pilot project which will be reflective of various dynamics AHKMT has found in different areas of Pakistan. There are also a number of benefits this national hub could have by doing waste management, such as saving the money on supplies, reducing the current waste disposal costs, and in the long term this step may avoid the environmental burden caused by producing and disposing unnecessary materials.
