The Akhtar Hameed Khan Memorial Association (AHKMA) formerly known as Dr Akhtar Hameed Khanmemorial Trust (AHKMT) has been registered as an association and a not-for-profit developmentorganization dedicated to enhancing sanitation, solid waste management, and community developmentsystems throughout Pakistan. Founded to uphold and advance the participatory communitydevelopment vision of the renowned social scientist Dr. Akhtar Hameed Khan, the Association workstowards fostering sustainable, resilient, and inclusive urban and rural environments.Guided by the principles of self-reliance, social equity, and community empowerment, the Associationbuilds on over two decades of practical, grassroots experience inherited from its founding institution.We design and implement effective, innovative, and community-centered solutions to addressPakistan’s most pressing environmental and social challenges.Our collaborative approach connects communities with government bodies, private enterprises,development partners, and international organizations — creating healthier, cleaner, and economicallyvibrant living spaces for people across all segments of society.
